  4. Tablecloth™ 10 Minute Demonstration  25th July, 1989

  6. Tablecloth™ is a screen utility for clearing your screen of clutter
  7. when using multiple programs under Apple's MultiFinder.
  8. It is of particular use to those using large screen monitors,
  9. where the extra space provides more opportunity for visual chaos.
  10.  
  11. when active, all windows of background applications are hidden,
  12. as are the the discs icons and the trash can on the desktop.
  13.  
  14. Once installed, a triple-click on the desktop activates Tablecloth,
  15. and a triple-click on Tablecloth put it away again.  No chance of 
  16. confusion with other programs or inits, and no command keys.
  17.  
  18. (This 10 minute Demo quits 10 minutes after launch  -
  19. no data is lost and you keep working in whatever program you were
  20. using at the time, but you will have to re-launch Tablecloth if you
  21. want it back again).

  37. I N S T A L L A T I O N

  39. The Tablecloth™ program consists of two parts:
  40.  
  41.     •    a normal Macintosh™ application program
  42.     •    a startup document called an 'INIT'.
  43.  
  44. The init must be placed in your system folder and the Mac
  45. restarted before  Tablecloth™ will work properly.
  46.  
  47. After you have restarted, simply double-click as normal on
  48. the Tablecloth™ icon to launch.  Now that Tablecloth™ is running
  49. it is available to cover all but your front-most application
  50. by triple-clicking on the desktop.  Triple-click again on Tablecloth
  51. to put away.  A screen saver arrangement is provided if you select
  52. Tablecloth™ from the Apple menu.

  54. COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER INITS  -  Tablecloth has been found
  55. to be compatible with a wide variety of inits.  Many users are
  56. running with 20-30 of these handy utilities with no problems!
  57. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that you might have some
  58. trouble with older or public domain inits.  If in doubt, place the
  59. suspect inits in a folder to prevent them being launched.

  61. The only identified problem has been the combination of
  62. Tablecloth with OnCue and PowerMenus.  In this case the solution was
  63. to remove the non-printing character at the beginning of
  64. PowerMenu's name.  This alters the order in which the inits are
  65. loaded at startup and cured the problem.

  79. screen-saver that allows display of any 4-line message
  80. to the public between demo sessions.  On multiple monitors
  81. the message glides about on each screen separately, with
  82. a distracting blink every now and then to catch the eye!
